TROPEA.
Tropea, wonderful Calabrian town in the province of
Vibo Valentia, elected the pearl of the
Mediterranean, lies halfway between Nicotera and
Pizzo Calabro, the two towns bordering the "Coast of
the Gods" or "Costa Bella." The two names are to
show the wonders that this stretch of coast is able
to offer those preparing to visit. Joppolo,
Coccorino, Ricadi, Capo Vaticano, Zambrone,
Parghelia and Vibo Marina are other beautiful places
on the coast. Contains between its walls, a romance
and a unique charm, waiting to be discovered. Very
impressive, offers a beautiful glance if a view from
above. The seaport is an architectural jewel that
can contain over 300 boats. Il seafront with hotels,
restaurants and shops. Inside, its narrow alleys,
Tropea hidden treasures delightful as courtyards of
houses and many portals worked by hand.
Tropea is located on a promontory overlooking the
sea, is known for its crystalline waters and white
sandy beaches. Over to superb coasts, in Tropea is
possible to visit an elegant historic centre which
still has intact urban structures of the previous
centuries is also possible to admire the Norman
cathedral which owns important works of art. The
town also has several homes patrician decorated in
Gothic styles. Tropea bases its origins in
civilization remote, from the Normans colonization,
to the Roman domination, making it a small town of
territorial extension, but with great spirit of
nobility.
The purpose of Tropea. is to present the coastal
sites, but also those in the hinterland, making it
familiar places,of art, culture and cuisine, which
has always characterized the place, with essential
information and the right position so who decides to
visit this wonderful area can know in advance the
places and landscapes to visit..
CAPO VATICANO.
The rocky promontory of Capo Vaticano is located in
the town of Ricadi (VV)
At short distance from Tropea, on the tip of the
beautiful promontory between the gulfs of Lamezia
Terme and Gioia Tauro arises in the Tirreno southern
that lengthens towards the Eolie is Capo Vaticano,
one of the most beautiful place of the province
vibonese.
Capo Vaticano, which falls within the territory of
the municipality of Ricadi, can boast a sea of
colors and transparency incredible, and coasts of
rare beauty: immediately after Tropea there are the
white beaches of the bays of Riaci and Formicoli,
whose shoulders you silhouetted on a terrace of tufa,
the small hamlet of Santa Sunday Ricadi; more,
continuing southward, here there are the beaches of
Torre Marino, Torre Ruffa, Tono and Tonicello, and
then, overlooking the sea, the beautiful cliffs of
Praia di Fuoco, full of caves and pretty coves,
often accessible only by boat or pedal.
Here, where the steep rocky spurs fall to peak from
a height of over 100 meters, just behind the hamlet
of St. Nicolo of Ricadi, stands a lighthouse, whose
light and' visible from a distance of 23 miles.
Going more far where the slope is more softly, there
are the charming bay Grotticelle, and Santa Maria,
with the typical fishing village.
Beautiful finally, the seabed, where the game
currents that cross off, coming from two gulfs,
protects and nurtures a botanical heritage among the
most varied and rich of the peninsula, we can call
it the eighth wonder.
The tourism of Capo Vaticano.
The emigration has gradually depopulated this
territory and wars have destroyed many young lives,
and there is a big feel to restart to build a
environment welcoming and prosperous. So on a
country peasant civilization went growing a
generation of small traders, engaged in services,
which led obvious mutations in the structures, in
the costumes, as well as in economic activities
which in recent decades have developed mainly around
tourism.. The old country of Ricadi is today a
well-equipped modern town that values its natural
position and tied with its fractions with fervent
initiatives seeking to exploit some of the past with
new knowledge and new opportunities of work and
productivity. ( "Tourism is not only do diving,
admire landscapes, monuments, city. And 'also come
into contact with peoples and civilizations other
than ours, understanding and, possibly, loving ."
Giuseppe Berto).
RICADI.
Lay down on the promontory on the basis of the
plateau Poro, among Briatico and Tropea, whose
summit was the name of Cape Vaticano (from here the
name), Ricadi, has many archaeological finds come to

course of Rome, Byzantine and Norman, Saracens, who
gave burned what they not brought forth, belonged to
Anjou, the dukes of Aragon of France, and at the
Bourbons.
Other historical facts can be found in places
Formicoli (Forum Herculis, where the mighty god,
returning from Spain with his herds, he found here
abundant pastures), which was discovered a
necropolis Byzantine and Brivadi resort, which
boasts the same discovery and along the coastal
stretch, which has sighting towers against Turkish
incursions.
Ricadi and Capo Vaticano, corners of the most
evocative of all Calabria, where you can admire the
Eolie islands, is known destination for tourists who
love serene holiday, in the middle of a nature rich

them finally to arrive at Castello di Monteleone,
today Vibo Valentia.
The Museum of Civilt Contadina (civilization
peasant), preserves materials of civilization
peasant and working tools used in the fields.

mill built in 1700.
